View of the old port of Chania

      (5km from fosvilla)

Explore Chania old town.

Visit Chania and explore the beauty of the old town and the harbor. Take a look at the museums and the Mitropoli Cathedral. Taste traditional food at the local tavernas and take all the road to the lighthouse.

Walk to Splatzia (east from the old port), Hatzimichali Daliani Street is a very interesting and busy pedestrian street, specially cherished by the young people, due to the diversity of the shops and cafes: retro bars, bistros, traditional restaurants, and pastry shops with local treats, as well as clothing shops.

   Explore the Main Land

Mainland has a wild beauty that amazes every traveler. Theriso, Meskla, Vrises and the Samaria Gorge wait for you to explore them.

Samaria Gorge is the longest gorge in Europe, if you like gorges, walk through this gorge and the experience will be unique. It is a long gorge 16km

and you need about 6 hours to pass it.

The Sarakina Gorge in Meskla (my village,15km from fosvilla)

is one of the smaller gorges in Crete,(you have to walk 10 minutes to reach it) but at the same time, it is one of the most impressive natural sculptures one can encounter. It is literally hidden in a ravine with a unique beauty of cypress trees and plane trees.

Also, it is highly recommended to visit all tavernas in the inland villages of Therisso, Mescla-Zourva, and Drakona for genuine Cretan cuisine.
